The dramatic, 18th century style, Peräpohjola Fair will be arranged in conjunction with the War opera. The event is implemented in cooperation with the twin cities and local handcraft professionals. Approximately one hundred stall-holders and characters in roles will lead us to a vivid trading town living under the soon to end Finnish War — a town in which this border area has always played an important role.
This historical themed event has been arranged for the past 10 years and it has always been highly successful. The stall-holders selling handiwork, pastries and groceries are dressed in 18th century clothing, as well as with historical characters and actors strolling around the fair. The stall-holders also sell products suitable for the era. The fair is open over the period of the performance dates of the War opera, between 16 and 21 local Swedish time.
