War opera is a joint work between Bengt Pohjanen, an author living in Torne River Valley, and Kaj Chydenius, a Finnish composer. This operetta is the third and largest in a trilogy about the history of Torne River Valley. The plot of the opera takes place in Northern Finland and Northern Sweden in the late winter of 1809. The Russian troops threaten Tornio and the Swedish generals have fled and left their authority with their lesser ranking officers. War opera also brings out the perspective of women, children and the normal civilians to what happened. About one hundred professional and amateur performers will participate in the War opera. The opera will be performed in the Finnish, Swedish, Russian and Torne Valley Finnish (Meänkieli) languages.
